Now that I shared with you some history on what the buttocks of an African American woman meant back then, I would like to share with you one of the first hip hop songs that promoted the idea of an African American woman having a large behind.
Hip Hop artist Sir Mix A Lot is best known for his song " Baby Got Back" which was a number one hit that went double platinum, and won the 1993 Grammy Award for Best Rap Solo Performance.
This song is about Sir Mix A lot's attraction to large buttocks. In the music video you will see women constantly shaking their buttocks. This song is seen as an anthem for men who love and appreciate women with curves on their bodies, especially women with a large buttocks and women of color.
